The May 31st – June 1st, 08 “Bay to Ocean” MS 150 is history.  Forgotten by now, since we are all rested, are the strong winds of Saturday, stomach cramps so severe that the SAG vehicle was a welcome sight and the saddle that didn’t do us any favors for the entire weekend.

Not forgotten, however, are the compliments from the many riders that Polly and I came in contact on the road.  “Great Team CLAMS”, “Fantastic job CLAMS”, “Way to go guys”, are just some of the few that came our way as we pedaled to Cape Charles feeling that the team did so very well.

How did the riders from other teams know that you all are great, fantastic people who go that extra mile (one without benefit of an intact shoe earning her the name “Shoeless Sue”) to do something nice for someone they may never meet.

We would like to say a special thanks to Peggy Gillette for saving our tired bodies on Sunday at Rest Stop # 5.  We had almost reached the end of our ride when she came to us with an ice cold sports drink from her personal cooler.  Thank you, Peggy, for helping us finish the ride and being able to take part in the friendship and great after ride dinner with the CLAMS and others at Cape Charles Marina.

The following are a list of the CLAMS who rode or supported the ride by working rest stops or sagging, please forgive us if we have omitted anyone:

Thank you CLAMS for being such a wonderful team, and good friends. Polly and I have said many times, “We are honored to be part of such a fantastic group of people.”

Ride fast, ride strong, ride safe so that others may walk.
