TBA LOADED
TOURING
Boldly go where
few have gone and to seek out new adventures
Tom Lilley
Doug
Richendollar, Jessica Horton, Paul Gordy, Bruce Drees, Tom Sare
and myself made up the first TBA Loaded Tour, a 100 mile round
trip in October from Bowers Hill to Chippoaks State Park with a
overnight at the campground. This was a trial to see if there
was any interest in Loaded Touring. It turned out to be a
successful trip with perfect weather and a lot of fun. We also
learned a lot from each other comparing equipment and stories as
we hung out at the campground. We also had a great sag wagon
hosted by Doug’s friends, Gale and Bill Bryant. Gale and Bill
arrived by truck and prepared a wonderful dinner and
breakfast.
November’s ride was from Wal-Mart on Dominion Blvd. to Merchant
Millpond State Park across the state line in North Carolina a 96
mile round trip with several stops. The die-hards were Fran
Adams, Jim Cruse, Bruce Drees, Hal Hamberg, Jessica Horton, Don
Musacchio, Doug Richendollar , my wife Carol and myself. The
cold weather made this a challenge, especially at night, when it
did get a little cold but we all enjoyed ourselves with laughing
and telling stories after a delicious dinner and breakfast
served by Gale and Bill Bryant. The trip was much easier not
having to carry the meals. The Park rangers and facilities were
great.
